What is depression + happiness
Depression. It takes many forms in one person's life. Happiness. Takes many forms as well.
Life is full of suffering and humans yearn for one while wallowing in the other. When one is depressed, everything seems to fail, go the wrong way and seemingly impossible to get out of. It was frequently told to just go outside or just stop being depressed when one stated they were depressed.
In a weird way, there is a lot of truth to this. Depression is a self-inflicted condition, usually related to hormonal, traumatic, emotional, physical triggers, but not necessarily.
So how does one overcome depression? Definitely not easily. Just like other disease, finding the root source is a good place to start. Why are you depressed? It's not so easy to figure out. I myself go through depression on a daily basis, but rather than the long drawn out depression I once found myself in, using pharmaceutical medication to off-set the side effects and reaching no true solution, instead I find myself catching these little up and downs and evening myself out.
Spending 5 years locked up in a room will help you figure out a lot of things about yourself. Overcoming my own demons was one of them. It's not proper to say I overcame them because like a lot of things, some things are always going to be there. Your darkness, your cynicism, pessimism and your mindset can spiral you back in instantly.
There is no miracle cure for depression. There never will be. Depression is you looking at life, trying to find meaning, trying to find reason, trying to find logic where there won't be. What must change is you. You must want to change because no one else can make you change. You cannot change one who does not want to change. However, this does not mean you can't get help. If anything, you should get help, you should reach out, you should communicate because this is how our species has progressed. We are not lone wolves, fighting everything to survive. We are a collective population that has worked together and built upon our predecessors to reach where we are.
So yes, go outside, go do stuff, get your mind off things, but be ready to accept the whole thing. Your depression is a part of yourself and who you are. It's not a real disease, but it acts like one when you're not feeling well. You don't need to fight your depression, you should be accepting it because just as you have good sides you like about yourself, your depression is another side of you you don't want to accept. You must change and you must want to change. Other's can only give you a hand, this is a task only you can accept and take on.
Accepting yourself, your downfalls, your fears and your weaknesses. This isn't just about depression, this is about becoming a better human.

It's not a one-time thing. It's a consistent battle of choosing your fights carefully, taking more wins than losses on average. Building confidence through small wins, which leads to bigger wins, which leads to success. There is no easy path in life. Even with money, there is no way to buy happiness. Happiness is a pain to achieve and it's fleeting. The highs are high, the lows are low. There's no 2 and's about it, it's a workload.
It's worth going through to climb the mountain. Peaks which seem high in the sky, elevation affecting your breathing, rocks and pebbles given you uneven footing. One step at a time, before you know it, you will be at the top in no time.
